  SNOWMOBILING IN WISE RIVER

Location & Getting Here:

MT Hwy 43, 12 miles west of I-15 between Butte and Dillon. Nearest airport is Butte.
In December, snow transforms these mountains and river valleys into a giant snowmobile park. Choose one of the many trails within the system, rent a cabin at the end of the trails or ride your snowmobile to nearby Maverick Mountain for an afternoon of downhill skiing. Snowmobiling is permitted in the town of Wise River. The Wise River - Elkhorn Hot Spring National Recreation Snowmobile Trail connects Wise River with the Grasshopper Valley.
 
  TRAILS:
Trails include Quartz Hill, leading to a massive, high plateau; Anderson Meadows, which leads to backcountry lakes and meadow play areas. Pattengail travels eight miles to Pattengails Falls. Lacy Creek has 10 miles of groomed and ungroomed trails to five high mountain lakes. Long Tom has open areas and 11 miles of groomed trails and leads to the Long Tom Cabin, a warming hut. Mt. Haggin has 15 miles of groomed trails leading to large play areas at high elevation.

Snowmobile service in Wise River. Fuel, food and lodging in Wise River and on the Wise River-Polaris trail. Guided tours may be arranged through the Wise River Jackpine Savages Snowmobile Club.
